LO2: - Positives of social media and Globalisation

Web-utopians - Those who see online and social media technologies as a benefit to society. They believe that social media and web 2.0 allow societies to come together to promote social good or the utopian ideals.  Media theorist David Gauntlett is a web utopian and believes that geographical boundaries are non-existent thanks to social media and connectivity 

LO2- Positives of social media and globalisation and web-utopianism

Connectivity of ideas and people (breaking down geographical boundaries). Sharing of technology and innovation by business, media, professionals and individual consumers. Financing, personnel, generation of funding   WEB-UTOPIANISM Web-utopianism or utopian internet is a subcategory of technological utopianism and the belief that online communication helps bring about a more decentralised, democratic, and libertarian society.

What is cross platform marketing?  When you advertise products over different media platforms such as print, TV and radio. Whose theory is Wikinomics? Tapscott and Williams- 2006 Why is Wikinomics an important concept as part of understanding globalisation? allows people to distribute and create products they previously couldn't. Share content to a global audience.

LO1 Task 3 - Purposes and Uses of Social Media Channels

Pick a media product. Could be a launch, rebrand, countdown. What is the product and what is its purpose? Who is the production company?  Who is the target audience?  Where is it distributed?  Look at how three different social media channels were used to promote it. Then pick one.  How has one social media channel been used by the production company to creatively market the product. Give examples.  The product I have chosen is the series 'Wandavision'. the purpose of the show is to entertain the audience. The production company is Marvel Studios. The target audience is mainly 13-35 year old females. This is because the main character is a female and the show is also based around sitcoms which are mostly enjoyed by women. It also includes people who were previously Marvel fans.
